"Scary Godparents" is a special half-hour Halloween episode of the Nickelodeon animated series The Fairly OddParents. It was the thirteenth and last episode produced for the show's second season, though it ended up being the season's twelfth episode to air.
Synopsis[]
On Halloween night, Timmy tells Cosmo and Wanda that he wants to be one of the Jack-O-Bots, the villains in the Crash Nebula Halloween Special, for Halloween. However, when Cosmo and Wanda attempt to grant his wish, they find that they can't because there are only four Jack-O-Bot costumes in existence, and they were won in a contest. It is then revealed that Trixie, Veronica, Tad, and Chad are the ones who won the costumes, having bribed the judges. Mr. and Mrs. Turner (who have dressed as each other for Halloween) are so impressed with the Popular Kids' costumes that they not only give them candy, but also Timmy's video games, CDs, and birthday money. When Chester and A.J. show up in their costumes (a vampire and Frankenstein's monster, respectively), Mr. and Mrs. Turner just give them pieces of paper with useless advice. To make matters worse, Vicky has been hired to chaperone Timmy and his friends as they go trick-or-treating, making Timmy wear a mummy costume made from two-ply toilet paper and forcing the kids to give her 70% of their candy. Since it's Halloween, Cosmo and Wanda freely accompany Timmy and his pals, dressed as a janitor and a nurse, respectively.
After he and his friends make several failed attempts to get candy from their neighbors (including Principal Waxelplax only giving out reflective tape, Dr. Bender scaring them off by reminding them they'll have to visit him after Halloween, and Mr. Buxaplenty siccing his dogs on them), Timmy realizes that the reason he and his friends have failed so far is because their costumes aren't realistic like the Popular Kids' costumes, or scary like Vicky is. Through a rousing musical number, Timmy wishes that everyone's costumes were all "real and scary". As a result, Timmy becomes an actual decaying corpse whose arms constantly snap off, while Cosmo and Wanda become janitor and nurse monsters. Unfortunately, the Popular Kids then turn into the real Jack-O-Bots themselves, causing them to also gain the robots' evil personalities, and declare that they will form together into the Pumpkinator and destroy the Earth.
Unbeknownst to everyone, a Yugopotamian ship has been hovering above the planet all night, and King Gripullon and Queen Jipjorrulac have been spying on the Earthlings, thinking that they are hosting an intergalactic convention and are plotting against them. Mark then comes in, and his parents tell him that the Earthlings are triggering a doomsday weapon (referring to the Jack-O-Bots) to blow up their own planet. Mark, realizing that Vicky is down there and wanting to save her, goes down to Earth with his friends Jeff and Erik. Timmy and his fairies see the Yugopotamians (Timmy at first thinks they're kids wearing Yugopotamian costumes until he hears Mark professing his love to Vicky) and hear Mark telling Vicky that she needs to get off of "this doomed planet." When Timmy asks what Mark is talking about, he then sees the Jack-O-Bots flying above and realizes they're about to blow up the Earth. Unfortunately, Cosmo and Wanda cannot undo Timmy's wish because when it turned them into monsters, they lost their magic powers, so Timmy is forced to come up with a new plan.
While Cosmo stays behind to distract Mark (which he does by taking a nap on the entry ramp for Mark's ship), Wanda brings Timmy's head (his mummified body has by now completely fallen apart) to the Dimmsdale Costume Emporium and tosses him into the bargain bin. Timmy emerges from the box as a Crimson Chin/Crash Nebula/vampire/lagoon monster/ballerina hybrid and challenges the Jack-O-Bots, who have now merged to become the Pumpkinator. During the fight, he tries biting the Pumpkinator with his vampire fangs, but it only causes one of his vampire teeth to break off and fall to the ground. As the Pumpkinator pins Timmy to the ground and starts the one-minute countdown to the explosion, Wanda gets an idea. She grabs Cosmo's pillow and puts it on top of the giant tooth, which triggers the appearance of Wendell Bender, who went as the Tooth Fairy for Halloween. In his attempt to lift the giant tooth, Wendell loses his wand and crown, and Wanda takes them, changing her back to a fairy. Timmy then promptly wishes that everything was "fake and safe" again, changing everything back to normal and stopping the Jack-O-Bots' countdown at only one second. The Popular Kids, reverted back to their normal selves, collapse in a pile, dropping all of Timmy's stuff that his parents gave them.
As Timmy is getting back his stuff from the Popular Kids, Mark then recognizes Timmy as "that stupid kid I run into every time I come here." Realizing that the Yugopotamians don't know what Halloween is, Timmy tricks Mark into thinking that Earth is indeed declaring war on Yugopotamia, forcing Mark and his friends to retreat back to their mothership. The Yugopotamians then launch a "P-Bomb" before going back to their home planet. Fortunately, Timmy explains to his fairies that, since the Yugopotamians think anything bad is good and vice-versa, he knew what their ultimate weapon of destruction would be - a candy-filled piñata. The piñata explodes upon entering Earth's atmosphere, causing candy to rain down on Dimmsdale and allowing all the kids to fill their bags with candy, while Vicky, who has now gotten sick from eating all the candy she stole and no longer wants any, gets crushed by a huge pile of it. The episode ends on Timmy, Chester, and A.J. having to visit Dr. Bender a few weeks later because they have now gotten cavities, but they are otherwise happy about having just had the greatest Halloween ever.

Trivia[]
- This was notably the last Fairly OddParents episode in which A.J. was voiced by Ibrahim Haneef Muhammad. From the next episode onward, Gary Leroi Gray would provide A.J.'s voice.
Deleted scenes[]
The episode's script contained several scenes that were cut (mostly for time) from the finished episode:[1]
- The episode originally had a completely different opening scene, which starts with Timmy wearing a monster costume and then Cosmo and Wanda poof up various costumes for him, each of which he rejects. Timmy then pulls out his Crash Nebula vs. the Pumpkinator DVD and points out the Jack-o-bots on the cover, right before wishing he had one of the costumes.
- Right after the scene at the Buxaplentys' mansion, A.J. asks Vicky why she's not also extorting candy from the rich kids. Vicky responds that it's because the rich kids can always get more candy because of their cool costumes, whereas taking Timmy and friends' candy will leave them with nothing (A.J.: "Well, you can't argue with that evil"). Nearby, the rich kids decide to split up so they can get more candy and money from the rest of the houses (hence why they're not all together when Timmy's wish takes effect).
- When Cosmo and Wanda grant Timmy's wish, we originally would see more of its effects. The script mentions Sanjay and Mike, who are respectively dressed as a baseball player and a police officer, becoming scary monster versions of their costumes, a transformed kid in a George Washington costume chasing after a transformed kid in a tree costume, and Mr. and Mrs. Turner turning into monster versions of each other.
- Right after the commercial break, four transformed kids in Crimson Chin costumes battle a Big Bad Wolf, but are then scared off by a Monster Red Riding Hood.
- Right after Mark and his friends go down to Earth, King Grippulon's computer tells him there are 25 minutes before the Pumpkinator destroys Earth, but it will take Mark 26 minutes to get Vicky off the planet. Right after, the Yugopotamians are seen partying in the ship while flying towards Earth.
- Before Timmy unsuccessfully wishes everything back to normal, the actual reason for why he made that wish was to "be petty and care more about his coolness than the destruction of Earth" due to the Jack-o-bots still having cooler costumes than him.
- In the script, Timmy falling apart (right after his "awesome mummy powers" line) was because Tad and Chad, as the Jack-o-bots, blasted him with eye beams. After he sends Cosmo to go distract Mark, Wanda asks Timmy if he's trying to get the Yugopotamians to help stop the Jack-o-bots, but Timmy replies that he was just getting Cosmo out of the way.
- Immediately after, Cosmo is presented as "the supervisor of Earth" and orders the Yugopotamians to clean up the lollipops. Cosmo then throws a lollipop at Jeff, burning a hole through his chest and "one of [his] four functioning hearts".
- After Cosmo falls asleep on the entry ramp for Mark's ship, Vicky promptly forces Mark and his friends to start trick-or-treating. When they trick-or-treat at Timmy's house, Timmy's parents hand advice to Mark and Erik, while handing Jeff a lollipop, which again burns through his chest.
- When Timmy and Wanda arrive at the costume emporium, they briefly encounter a kid in a monster tumbleweed costume named Craig.
- At one point while battling the Pumpkinator, Timmy pulls his Crash Nebula gun, but instead, he pulled out a pair of ballerina tights, which he uses to blind the Pumpkinator. At another point, Timmy crashes into his house, and Mr. Turner gives him a slip of paper saying "Look out; that big robot is arming itself with a missle." (Timmy: "Wow! That was actually helpful!")
- Wanda taking Wendell's fairy crown and wand causes him to revert to normal, and he runs off with the giant tooth ("I am so gonna get more than a quarter for this!").
- After the rich kids revert to normal, Timmy grabs the bag with his stuff, he finds it also has a single gum drop. A minute later, when he declares war on Yugopotamia, Jeff scoffs that he can't really do that; Timmy responds by throwing the gum drop at Jeff.
- When Mark arrives back on his parents' mothership, his parents send his clone (mentioned earlier in the finished episode) to be re-frozen. A minute later, after the Yugopotamians launch the pinata, Mark's Vicky clone rejects him and then hooks up with his clone... who, ironically, doesn't want her.
